Safeguarding Coordinator (Sierra Leone)

About the role

MSF is seeking a Safeguarding Coordinator to lead the implementation of its safeguarding framework in Sierra Leone. The role focuses on preventing abuse, improving complaint mechanisms, and ensuring a safe environment for staff, patients, and communities.

Key responsibilities

• Adapt and roll out the MSF safeguarding framework across all departments in Sierra Leone.
• Conduct safeguarding risk assessments with staff, partners, patients and community members.
• Analyse barriers and fears related to reporting abuse and propose mitigating measures.
• Improve the efficiency of internal complaint mechanisms based on staff feedback.
• Design and coordinate community‑based feedback and complaint systems that are safe and confidential.
• Monitor and report on the implementation progress to the Country Coordinator.

Required profile

• Experience in safeguarding, protection or related fields, preferably in humanitarian settings.
• Strong analytical skills to assess risks and develop mitigation strategies.
• Ability to work collaboratively with diverse stakeholders, including staff, partners and local communities.
• Excellent communication skills in English.
