Research Intern – Migration and Demographic Policy

About the role

ESCWA is looking for a motivated intern to support its work on population dynamics, ageing and migration in the Arab region. The intern will join a team that provides evidence‑based policy analysis and assists governments in developing strategies on these issues.

Key responsibilities

• Research and analyse migration‑related laws and policies in Arab countries.
• Collect, process and enter data into ESCWA’s migration database.
• Support the preparation of reports, policy briefs and background papers on demographic and socioeconomic trends.
• Assist in the design and delivery of capacity‑building workshops, training sessions and high‑level meetings.
• Prepare presentation materials, meeting documentation and coordinate with government officials, experts and development partners.

Required profile

• Enrolled in or recently graduated from a university programme (bachelor’s or higher).
• Strong interest in United Nations work and commitment to its values.
• Ability to work with people from diverse cultural backgrounds.
• Good computer literacy with standard software applications.

Required skills

• Fluency in English (required); knowledge of French and/or Arabic is an asset.
