Protection Case Worker

About the role

The International Rescue Committee (IRC) is hiring a Protection Case Worker in Der Dalloum, Lebanon. The postholder implements comprehensive protection case management for people at heightened risk, under the supervision of the Protection Senior Case Management Officer. The role combines a standard office setting (20%) with field work (80%).

Key responsibilities

• Conduct household visits and centre-based interviews to assess client and family needs.
• Develop and implement action plans with clients and families, discuss their options and involve them in decisions.
• Assess risk, link clients with support groups and community resources, and provide information on rights and entitlements.
• Receive referrals from registration, psychosocial, outreach and other activities, and monitor, review and close cases appropriately.
• Keep complete and up-to-date case documentation and manage confidential data.
• Prepare weekly and monthly work plans, support monitoring and evaluation, and take part in weekly reporting and planning meetings.
• Provide psychosocial counselling and coordinate services from other specialised providers.
• Maintain a service map of local providers, receive referrals from other agencies and lobby on behalf of individuals and families.

Required profile

• 2 to 3 years of previous case management experience (mandatory).
• Experience with refugees and in cross-cultural settings preferred.
• University degree in social work, psychology or a related field preferable.
• Fluent Arabic and clear written and spoken English.

• Good computer skills (Microsoft Word and Excel).
• Good reporting skills.
• Confidentiality, respect, non-discrimination and safety of beneficiaries.
• Flexibility to work overtime and handle pressure.
