Mechanical Technician Officer

About the role

The Mechanical Technician Officer ensures the reliable operation and maintenance of all mechanical and HVAC systems across university campuses. This role focuses on delivering optimal performance, energy efficiency, and occupant comfort through proactive maintenance and continuous system monitoring.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain chillers, pumps, air handling units (AHUs), fan coil units (FCUs), ventilation and cooling systems to ensure efficient operation.
• Execute preventive maintenance programs, conduct inspections, diagnose faults and perform corrective repairs.
• Respond to maintenance requests via the CAFM system and support emergency HVAC restoration.
• Monitor system performance, identify inefficiencies, and assist with building management system (BMS) coordination.
• Ensure safe operation by following HSE procedures and coordinating with the HSE team when required.
• Collaborate with maintenance teams, report recurring issues, and keep accurate maintenance records.

Required profile

• Technical Diploma (BT/TS) in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
• Minimum 5 years of experience in HVAC or mechanical systems maintenance.
• Experience in an institutional or multi‑building campus environment is preferred.
• Willingness to work on‑site across multiple campuses and be on‑call for emergencies.

Required skills

• HVAC system maintenance (chillers, pumps, AHUs, FCUs, ventilation).
• Preventive and corrective maintenance procedures.
• Use of CAFM platforms for work order management.
• Familiarity with Building Management Systems (BMS) monitoring.
• Knowledge of energy‑efficiency practices in HVAC operations.
• Adherence to HSE safety standards.
