Junior Cybersecurity Engineer

About the role

The Junior Cybersecurity Engineer will support daily security operations, including monitoring, vulnerability management, and application security testing. Working under senior security staff, the role offers a path toward independent ownership of technical security topics.

Key responsibilities

• Monitor SIEM alerts, triage incidents, and fine‑tune detection rules.
• Oversee endpoint security via EDR/XDR consoles, ensuring agent coverage and handling detections.
• Run vulnerability scans, produce reports, and follow up with system owners until remediation.
• Track patch compliance, verify hardening baselines, and assist with firewall policy changes on Fortinet FortiGate.
• Support identity and access processes, MFA enrollment, and joiner‑mover‑leaver checks.
• Monitor cloud security posture and configuration alerts in Azure.
• Assist incident investigations, collect evidence, and document actions.
• Gather audit evidence for internal and external audits and maintain findings trackers.

Required profile

• Degree in Computer Science, Information Security, Engineering or related field, or equivalent training.
• 0–3 years of experience in IT or cybersecurity (internships, SOC, help‑desk acceptable).
• Understanding of core cybersecurity concepts (CIA triad, attack types, risk, defense in depth).
• Working knowledge of networking (TCP/IP, DNS, VPN, firewalls) and operating systems (Windows, Linux).

Required skills

• Experience with SIEM and EDR/XDR tools.
• Vulnerability scanning tools and patch management.
• Familiarity with Azure cloud platform and Microsoft 365 security tooling.
• Scripting ability in PowerShell, Python or Bash.
• Knowledge of Fortinet FortiGate firewall configuration.
