IT Librarian – Library Systems & Technology Manager

About the role

The IT Librarian will lead the library’s technology environment, overseeing software applications, shared storage, and digital resources. This role combines library systems expertise with strong IT management to ensure seamless access for staff and patrons.

Key responsibilities

• Administer and support the Integrated Library System (ILS), digital asset management tools, library catalogs and related applications.
• Monitor shared storage access, manage user permissions, authentication protocols and maintain naming conventions.
• Coordinate software updates, work with vendors and developers to resolve issues and implement enhancements.
• Design and implement integrations with institutional platforms such as learning management systems, authentication services and digital repositories.
• Ensure compliance with data protection regulations and library privacy policies.
• Provide technical support and training to library staff and patrons, creating user guides and documentation.
• Evaluate emerging technologies, conduct feasibility and cost‑benefit analyses, and develop strategic upgrade plans.
• Lead library‑focused IT projects, define goals, create timelines, monitor progress and manage risks.

Required profile

• Proven experience in managing library technology systems and IT services.
• Strong problem‑solving abilities and a passion for leveraging technology to improve library services.
• Excellent communication skills for training staff and collaborating with stakeholders.
• Ability to manage multiple projects and prioritize tasks effectively.
