Junior Data Scientist – Institutional Research

About the role

The Junior Data Scientist will support the Office of the Vice President for Institutional Effectiveness and Planning, focusing on Institutional Research and Data Analytics. Working under the Director and alongside the Data Scientist, the role emphasizes data quality, reporting efficiency, and the use of analytics, automation, and AI tools for decision‑making.

Key responsibilities

• Collect, extract, clean, and structure data from SIS, LMS, surveys, HR, finance and other internal systems.
• Validate data for accuracy, completeness, consistency and resolve duplication issues.
• Prepare clean datasets, tables and extracts for dashboards, KPI trackers, accreditation reports and strategic planning.
• Develop and update dashboards, KPI monitors, survey outputs and recurring analytical reports.
• Generate descriptive statistics, visualisations and preliminary insights for internal requests.
• Document data sources, definitions, transformation steps and quality checks.
• Identify data discrepancies, flag issues and support continuous improvement of data workflows and automation.
• Apply basic statistical, machine‑learning and data‑science techniques to support analysis.

Required profile

• Recent graduate or early‑career professional with a strong interest in data science.
• Ability to work under supervision and collaborate with senior analysts.
• Attention to detail and commitment to data confidentiality and governance.
• Willingness to learn and adopt new analytics, automation and AI tools.
