Head of English & School Education – Lebanon

About the role

The Head of English & School Education will lead the English and School Education (ESE) portfolio in Lebanon, shaping high‑impact programmes, policy engagement and strategic partnerships that strengthen teaching, learning and assessment.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and develop the ESE team, delivering strategy, policy and practice across Lebanon.
• Build and maintain relationships with ministries, donors, multilateral agencies and academic institutions to influence education policy and secure funding.
• Identify, design and pursue donor‑funded and client‑funded opportunities, overseeing proposal development, contract negotiation and partnership agreements.
• Provide technical leadership in English language teaching, teacher development and education reform, embedding evidence‑informed approaches into programme design.
• Oversee brand and market positioning, producing communications aligned with British Council standards.
• Monitor programme performance, budgets and impact, ensuring compliance with funder requirements and organisational standards.
• Drive product development for teacher education content, integrating evidence‑based approaches tailored to local needs.
• Champion equality, diversity and inclusion, embedding anti‑racist practices throughout the portfolio.

Required profile

• Post‑graduate qualification in a relevant field and/or Diploma ELT (TEFL‑Q); English teaching qualification required.
• Online teaching qualification and/or project management qualification are desirable.
• Proven experience managing teacher‑education projects and externally funded programmes in the ELT sector.
• Strong track record of engaging senior stakeholders such as government ministries, donors and multilateral agencies.
• Demonstrated ability to apply monitoring, evaluation and learning (MEL) insights to improve programme delivery.
• Experience contributing to research, publications and conference presentations in English language teaching.
• Fluency in written and spoken English and Arabic.
