Executive Director for Academic Operations

About the role

The Executive Director for Academic Operations leads the efficient delivery of all academic processes across the Office of the Provost. This senior leader translates governance decisions into day‑to‑day operations, ensuring the university’s teaching activities run smoothly and comply with regulatory standards.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee course offerings, scheduling, and semester readiness for all academic units.
• Manage academic calendars, resolve operational issues, and implement governance decisions.
• Ensure reliable operation of key academic systems such as Banner and Moodle, configuring them to reflect approved rules.
• Coordinate with IT and Academic Systems Governance to maintain system reliability and data accuracy.
• Prepare and submit required academic files to the Ministry of Higher Education (MEHE), track compliance timelines, and support audit readiness.
• Lead academic data management, produce accurate reports, and provide operational dashboards for leadership.
• Identify workflow bottlenecks, drive process standardisation, and implement continuous‑improvement initiatives.

Required profile

• Master’s degree in higher‑education management, business administration, public administration or related field (Doctorate preferred).
• 10+ years of experience in higher‑education administration, with at least 5 years in a senior operational leadership role.
• Proven track record managing academic systems (Banner or equivalent) and navigating MEHE regulatory processes.
• Extensive experience in academic operations, semester management, and data reporting.
• Strong operational discipline, attention to detail, and ability to manage multiple priorities under pressure.
