Clinical Psychologist – National Post (Lebanon, North)

About the role

The Clinical Psychologist provides specialized mental health services within Relief International‑supported primary health care centres (PHCCs) and satellite units in northern Lebanon. The role delivers assessment, treatment planning, psycho‑education, group interventions and safe referrals for host community members, refugees, IDPs, and other vulnerable groups.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct clinical assessments, develop treatment plans, monitor progress and manage risk, including suicide or self‑harm concerns.
• Provide individual, family and group mental health interventions for depression, anxiety, PTSD and crisis‑related distress.
• Deliver psychological first aid and crisis intervention, referring severe or complex cases to a psychiatrist or specialized services.
• Support PHCC staff with training on PFA, active listening, basic counselling and mental health priority conditions.
• Mentor community health volunteers and case managers on case identification, confidentiality and documentation.
• Conduct home visits, PSU‑based support or remote follow‑up for beneficiaries unable to access facilities.
• Coordinate outreach activities, field visits to shelters and host communities, and maintain links with protection, S/GBV and child protection services.
• Participate in regular case review meetings with the Mental Health Supervisor, psychologists and psychiatrist.

Required profile

• Qualified Clinical Psychologist with experience providing mental health services in humanitarian or low‑resource settings.
• Familiarity with mhGAP, WHO PM+ and SH+ frameworks and national mental health guidelines.
• Ability to work collaboratively with PHCC staff, case managers, community health volunteers and multidisciplinary teams.
• Strong commitment to confidentiality, ethical practice and safeguarding vulnerable populations.
