University Lawyer – Legal Services & Compliance

About the role

The Office of the Chief of Staff & General Counsel seeks a qualified Lawyer to provide comprehensive legal services to the University, its New York Campus, affiliated medical centers, and related entities. This central position is based on the Beirut campus and involves regular interaction with Byblos campus and LAU affiliates.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct legal research and deliver analysis on regulatory matters affecting the University and its affiliates.
• Identify, assess, and mitigate legal risks through preventive guidance and risk‑management strategies.
• Draft, review, negotiate, and revise contracts, agreements, policies, and other legal documents to ensure compliance and protect institutional interests.
• Provide day‑to‑day legal advice to academic, operational, and administrative units, including the New York Campus and medical centers.
• Support dispute resolution, claims management, and litigation, coordinating with external counsel as needed.
• Monitor legislative and regulatory developments and advise stakeholders on potential impacts.
• Maintain legal records and documentation in line with institutional and regulatory standards.
• Assist with corporate governance matters for Lebanese corporations, including drafting shareholder and board minutes.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Law (LL.B.).
• Licensed to practice law and in good standing with the relevant bar association.
