Senior Tax Analyst

About the role

The Senior Tax Analyst supports Greenbrier’s indirect tax compliance, reporting, and research functions. This role ensures accurate, timely, and compliant sales/use and property tax operations while partnering with internal teams and external advisors.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare and review sales/use tax returns across multiple jurisdictions, ensuring accuracy and timely filing.
• Manage exemption certificate processes and resolve complex documentation issues.
• Prepare personal property tax returns, review valuation notices, and process tax payments.
• Support railcar ad valorem filings, including return preparation and notice review.
• Conduct technical research on complex indirect tax issues and provide actionable recommendations.
• Review tax‑related journal entries and ensure proper accounting treatment.
• Lead initiatives to improve tax processes, enhance internal controls, and automate workflows.
• Act as primary contact for external advisors and taxing authorities, and partner with operations, accounting, and finance teams on tax implications.

Required profile

• Demonstrated experience in indirect tax compliance, including sales/use and property tax.
• Strong analytical and research skills to interpret tax regulations.
• Ability to collaborate with cross‑functional teams and external advisors.
• Experience leading audit support, system implementations, or process‑improvement projects.
