Senior Adjunct Research Fellow / Postdoc

About the role

The CONFINED Fellowship invites a senior scholar to join a Horizon Europe‑funded research consortium focused on confinement, displacement, and governance. As a Senior Adjunct Research Fellow, you will provide intellectual leadership for a major collaborative scholarly output and help shape the project’s research agenda.

Key responsibilities

• Co‑develop and edit a collaborative volume or special journal issue aligned with the CONFINED themes.
• Produce original research and contribute to co‑authored publications and policy briefs.
• Engage regularly with the international CONFINED consortium through workshops, seminars, and collaborative exchanges.
• Support theoretical innovation and comparative dialogue across project sites.
• Participate in mentorship, scholarly exchange, and public‑engagement activities linked to the fellowship.

Required profile

• PhD in migration studies, political science, sociology, anthropology, or a related field.
• Strong publication record on at least two of the thematic areas (e.g., refugee governance, externalisation policies, humanitarian governance, confinement and mobility control).
• Experience in collaborative, interdisciplinary research projects and ability to work across multiple institutions.
• Demonstrated capacity to lead scholarly editing projects such as edited volumes or special issues.
