Monitoring Assistant – Food Safety & Quality (SSA4)

About the role

The Monitoring Assistant supports Food Safety and Quality monitoring under the SSA4 framework, contributing to the World Food Programme’s mission to deliver safe and nutritious food assistance.

Key responsibilities

• Assist in the collection, verification and analysis of food safety and quality data across programme sites.
• Support routine monitoring visits and ensure compliance with WFP food safety standards and national regulations.
• Prepare concise monitoring reports and dashboards for senior staff and partners.
• Coordinate with field teams to address identified gaps and follow‑up on corrective actions.
• Participate in internal and external audits, providing necessary documentation and evidence.

Required profile

• University degree in Food Science, Nutrition, Agriculture, Public Health or a related field.
• Relevant experience in food safety, quality assurance or monitoring within humanitarian or development contexts.
• Strong analytical abilities and attention to detail.
• Excellent communication skills in English; knowledge of Arabic is an asset.
• Ability to work effectively in a multicultural, fast‑paced environment.

Required skills

• Knowledge of food safety standards and quality assurance procedures (e.g., HACCP).
• Experience with data collection tools and basic statistical analysis.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications for reporting.
