Lead DevOps Engineer

About the role

BigHand is looking for a Lead DevOps Engineer to drive the evolution of its cloud‑native SaaS platforms on Azure. You will combine hands‑on engineering with team leadership to ensure secure, scalable, and high‑performing services for legal professionals.

Key responsibilities

• Lead, mentor and grow a high‑performing Platform Operations engineering team.
• Drive the migration of on‑premise systems to Azure IaaS and PaaS.
• Architect and evolve container‑based platforms using Kubernetes and Docker.
• Define and maintain platform standards, patterns, and best practices.
• Own platform reliability, security and performance, including incident response and root‑cause analysis.
• Implement monitoring, observability, alerting and security improvements aligned with ISO27001 and SOC2.
• Build and enhance Infrastructure as Code using Terraform and PowerShell.
• Advance CI/CD pipelines with Azure DevOps and integrated security tooling.
• Collaborate with product, engineering, architecture and customer teams to shape platform strategy.
• Manage vendor relationships and optimise cloud cost and capacity.

• Excellent communication and collaboration skills across business units.
