Infrastructure / DevOps Engineer (AWS+Backend)

About the role

Ryno is a fast‑growing food and grocery delivery platform operating on AWS. We are looking for an Infrastructure / DevOps Engineer who also writes backend code, owning the platform’s infrastructure end‑to‑end while delivering new features in our NestJS services.

Key responsibilities

• Design, provision and maintain AWS environment (VPC, EC2/ECS, RDS PostgreSQL, ElastiCache Redis, S3, CloudFront, EFS, IAM, Route 53, load balancers, NAT gateways).
• Manage infrastructure as code with Terraform, ensuring reproducible environments.
• Own staging‑production parity, backups, restore drills and disaster‑recovery procedures.
• Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines in GitHub Actions for backend and mobile releases.
• Containerise services, standardise builds and enable fast, safe deployments.
• Set up monitoring, logging, alerting and dashboards (CloudWatch, Grafana/Prometheus, Sentry).
• Define SLOs, respond to incidents, write post‑mortems and participate in on‑call rotation.
• Control AWS spend, optimise costs and report unit economics per order.
• Write and review production backend code in NestJS/TypeScript, migrate from Laravel/PHP to NestJS and MySQL to PostgreSQL.
• Design database schemas, indexes, queries and Redis caching strategies; maintain background jobs and queues.
• Integrate and harden third‑party services such as Paystack and logistics APIs.
• Enforce security best practices (least‑privilege IAM, secrets management, network isolation).

Required profile

• Hands‑on experience with AWS services and Terraform.
• Strong background in backend development using NestJS and TypeScript.
• Proficiency in CI/CD pipelines (GitHub Actions) and containerisation.
• Solid knowledge of PostgreSQL, Redis and database optimisation.
• Experience with monitoring tools (CloudWatch, Grafana/Prometheus, Sentry) and incident management.
• Ability to manage costs and optimise cloud spend.
• Willingness to participate in on‑call rotation and handle production issues.
