Finance Officer

About the role

The Finance Officer will ensure robust security and internal controls over the organisation's resources, including funds and PPE, in line with Save the Children’s Financial Manual. The role also supports the implementation and reporting of sub‑grants, adhering to generally accepted accounting principles and reporting standards.

Key responsibilities

• Verify the accuracy, legitimacy and proper coding of all payments and related documents before authorisation.
• Maintain daily cash and bank book records, ensuring alignment with donor and country coding structures.
• Manage Agresso processes, uploading data regularly and ensuring system accuracy.
• Oversee salary advances, ensuring timely closure and reconciliation for departing staff.
• Consolidate petty‑cash transactions daily and replenish cash for the Central and South Area offices.
• Archive supporting documents securely and share scanned copies with the country office each month.
• Maintain internal control systems, cash management procedures and filing systems in accordance with SCI finance policies.
• Follow up audit recommendations and ensure staff compliance with financial procedures.
• Communicate policy changes to programme and logistics staff and foster good working relationships.

Required profile

• Experience in financial administration within an NGO or humanitarian context.
• Ability to work flexibly during major emergencies and adapt working hours as needed.
• Willingness to undergo a Level 2 child‑safeguarding police check.

Required skills

• Proficiency with the Agresso financial management system.
