Field Coordinator

About the role

The Field Coordinator supports the Project Manager in planning, implementing and monitoring humanitarian assistance activities. This role ensures that kit, voucher, cash and cash‑for‑work distributions are carried out efficiently, safely and in line with AVSI standards while maintaining strong links with local authorities and communities.

Key responsibilities

• Participate in assessments, define resource needs and help develop SOPs.
• Coordinate weekly and monthly priorities with the Project Manager and create movement plans.
• Supervise the distribution of NFI, CRI, food, WASH, shelter kits, vouchers and cash‑for‑work activities.
• Conduct regular field visits to sites, shelters and communities, identify risks and propose mitigation strategies.
• Prepare purchase requests, timesheets and allowance payments using AVSI financial tools and liaise with the logistics department.
• Facilitate outreach with municipalities, local authorities, community leaders and other stakeholders to capture emerging needs.
• Manage and schedule field assistants and volunteers, organize meetings and track attendance.
• Support monitoring, evaluation and reporting, adapt tools as needed and ensure proper archiving of project documents.
• Ensure safety and security of beneficiaries, staff, volunteers and equipment during field operations.

Required profile

• Proven experience in humanitarian project implementation and field coordination.
• Ability to work closely with local authorities, community leaders and diverse stakeholders.
• Strong organizational skills for planning, scheduling and resource management.
• Experience supervising distribution of kits, vouchers, cash or cash‑for‑work programmes.
• Knowledge of risk identification and mitigation in field settings.
• Experience in team management, including volunteers and field assistants.
• Familiarity with monitoring, evaluation and reporting processes.
