About the role

The Economic and Social Commission for Western Asia (ESCWA) is seeking an English Editor to join its Knowledge Management Services unit. Reporting to the Chief of KMS, the editor will ensure that all English‑language outputs meet United Nations editorial standards and are clear, accurate, and professionally presented.

Key responsibilities

• Edit specialized and technical texts for accuracy, clarity, cohesion, and compliance with UN policies.
• Rewrite, abridge, and restructure documents to improve readability and logical flow.
• Collaborate with authoring departments, conduct research, and verify facts, figures, references, and quotations.
• Cross‑check edited versions against original drafts, correct unclear passages, and insert omitted material.
• Provide guidance on editorial policy and assist authors in manuscript preparation.
• Utilise language‑technology tools and recommend improvements.
• Perform other related duties as required.
