Data Analyst – Climate Finance (6‑week contract)

About the role

The United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Western Asia (ESCWA) is seeking a Data Analyst on a 6‑week consultancy to update and visualise climate‑finance data for the Arab region and individual Arab states. The role is fully remote and supports ESCWA’s collaboration with the Government of Sweden on climate‑resilience initiatives.

Key responsibilities

• Produce one aggregated dataset on international climate‑finance flows to the Arab region and individual states, plus three sector‑specific datasets (water, energy, food) with visualisations.
• Develop clear visualisations and at least three key messages for each indicator.
• Conduct comparative analysis of climate‑finance flows against three additional financial datasets.
• Incorporate ESCWA review comments into the five dataset files.
• Create five PowerPoint slide decks presenting final visualisations and key messages.

Required profile

• Master’s degree in statistics, mathematics or a related field (or a first‑level degree with two additional years of relevant experience).
• Minimum five years of experience in data analysis, dataset preparation and visualisation.

Required skills

• Advanced Excel for data manipulation and visualisation.
• PowerPoint for creating presentation decks.
• Data visualisation techniques to convey key findings.
