Cost Control Engineer

About the role

The Cost Control Engineer will support project operations by ensuring effective control of project expenditure, commitments, forecasts, and overall financial performance. Reporting to the Chief Projects Officer, the role works closely with multiple departments to maintain an independent and objective cost review process.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and maintain the project cost coding structure across BOQ items, activities, materials, services, subcontractors, equipment, labour, and overheads.
• Review payment requests, purchase orders, quotations, invoices, delivery notes, GRNs, measurements and related documentation.
• Control subcontractor and supplier payments, including IPC certification, retention, advance payment recovery, back‑charges, and on‑site materials.
• Establish and monitor project budgets, cost breakdowns, commitments, actual costs, contingencies and risk allowances.
• Monitor Planned Value, Earned Value, Actual Cost, CPI, cost variance and other cost‑performance indicators.
• Prepare Cost‑to‑Complete assessments, Forecast Cost at Completion, variance analysis, project margin forecasts and cash‑flow updates.
• Track cost impact of variations, claims, time‑related costs, price escalation and currency exposure.
• Prepare accurate monthly cost reports and flash reports for management and identify potential cost overruns.
