Job description

About the role

The IRC is looking for a consultant clinical psychologist for children and their caregivers in the Bekaa region. The psychologist provides clinical supervision of high-risk cases, mainly under the case management component or the caregiver's request as indicated by the Field manager or case management officer. Sessions are held face-to-face, one-on-one or in groups, and the consultant also coaches case workers when needed.

Key responsibilities

  • Hold one-on-one and group sessions for children exposed to high-risk vulnerabilities, by home visit or in the municipality's case management room or at IRC partner premises.
  • Provide structured clinical assessments and case formulation, assessing cognitive, behavioral and emotional needs with standardized tools.
  • Develop a treatment plan with clear objectives, timeline and dates for evaluation, closure and post-support check-ups.
  • Monitor and evaluate psychological progress, and ensure emergency cases are managed, referred and followed.
  • Maintain strict confidentiality and complete all documentation efficiently.
  • Report on each session and field visit to the program manager, case management officer and case worker, with feedback and recommendations.
  • Count one session if no specialized sessions are needed; otherwise attend between three and eight sessions, consulting the Consortium manager and Integrated Protection Officer before closing a case.
  • Travel to Tripoli and Minnieh for home visits, as 90% of consultations are in person; online sessions are used in emergencies.

Required profile

  • MA in clinical psychology, with a Lebanese colloquium certificate and a Ministry of Public Health license to practice.
  • Completed clinical training/practicum: at least 100 supervised hours and 300 applied hours.
  • A letter of recommendation from a senior clinical psychologist supervisor and membership in a registered Lebanese psychological association is preferable.
  • At least 7 years of professional experience in MHPSS, including experience with high-risk children and evidence-based approaches (IPT, CBT, TF-CBT, EMDR).
  • Fluent reading, writing and speaking in Arabic and English.

Required skills

  • Knowledge of IASC, Setting the Standard and Minimum Standards for Child Protection guidelines, plus Psychological First Aid and mhGAP.
  • Biopsychosocial, community-based and human-rights-based approaches, and person-centered, goal and strength-focused care plans.
  • Relaxation and stress management techniques, rapport building, interviewing and coaching skills.
  • Good digital literacy, Microsoft Office and internet use.

Payments are made monthly based on the number of days and sessions worked. The consultant has no dedicated office but uses IRC premises for meetings, and follows the telepsychology guidelines attached to the tender.
