Clinical Psychologist for Children and Caregivers (Bekaa)

About the role

The International Rescue Committee (IRC) is looking for a clinical psychologist consultant for children and their caregivers in the Bekaa region. The consultant provides clinical supervision of high-risk cases, mainly under the case management component or the caregiver's request, and conducts face-to-face, one-on-one and group sessions for children exposed to high risk, vulnerability and distress. Sessions are held at home visits, in municipality case management rooms or at IRC partner premises.

Key responsibilities

• Provide structured clinical assessments and case formulations, assessing cognitive, behavioral and emotional needs with standardized tools.
• Develop a treatment plan with clear objectives, timeline and dates for evaluation, closure and post-support check-ups.
• Monitor and evaluate psychological progress, and manage emergency cases with proper referral and follow-up.
• Support case workers through coaching sessions on handling children with challenging behaviors.
• Maintain strict confidentiality and complete all documentation efficiently.
• Report on each session and field visit to the program manager, case management officer and case worker, with feedback and recommendations.
• Travel to Tripoli and Minnieh for home visits, as 90% of consultations are in person; telepsychology is allowed in emergencies.

Required profile

• MA in clinical psychology, with a supervised clinical training of at least 100 hours and 300 hours of applied training.
• Lebanese colloquium certificate for clinical psychologists and a license from the Ministry of Public Health.
• Letter of recommendation from a senior clinical psychologist and membership in a Lebanese psychological association are preferable.
• Minimum of 7 years of professional experience in MHPSS, including experience with high-risk children.
• Fluent reading, writing and speaking in Arabic and English.

Required skills

• Evidence-based approaches such as IPT, CBT, TF-CBT and EMDR, and at least one psychotherapy modality.
• Knowledge of IASC guidelines, the Setting the Standard framework and minimum standards for child protection in humanitarian action.
• Psychological First Aid, mhGAP and the biopsychosocial model.
• Good digital literacy, Microsoft Office and internet use.
• Coaching, clinical supervision and training experience is a plus.
