Chief Accountant – Real Estate/Construction

About the role

We are looking for a Chief Accountant with extensive experience in real‑estate, construction and contracting to lead the accounting function for Jaber Group Real Estate in Verdun, Beirut. The role will oversee the full accounting cycle, ensure compliance with IFRS and local tax regulations, and support strategic financial planning.

Key responsibilities

• Establish and manage the monthly, quarterly and annual close calendar, ensuring disciplined execution of cut‑offs, checklists and deliverables.
• Review and approve journal entries, accruals, provisions and adjustments with proper documentation and IFRS treatment.
• Prepare and review the IFRS financial statements package and submit to the CFO within agreed timelines.
• Maintain General Ledger integrity through posting controls, chart‑of‑accounts governance and inter‑company reconciliations.
• Oversee statutory filings such as VAT, corporate income tax and withholding tax, ensuring timely and accurate submission.
• Support budgeting, forecasting and variance analysis, providing insights on drivers, risks and corrective actions.
• Lead, coach and evaluate the accounting team, fostering ownership and a strong control mindset.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance; Master’s degree preferred.
• 8–12+ years of progressive accounting experience, including at least 3 years in a senior role within real‑estate or construction.
• Proven experience with multi‑entity reporting, inter‑company controls, treasury management and audit coordination.
• Professional certifications such as CPA, CA, ACCA or IFRS training are preferred.

Required skills

• Strong knowledge of IFRS accounting standards.
• Proficiency with ERP systems and related workflow controls.
