Cashier – Bookstore

About the role

We are looking for a friendly and reliable Cashier to join our bookstore team. You will be the first point of contact for customers, handling transactions accurately and providing assistance with book selections and inquiries.

Key responsibilities

• Greet customers and help them locate books or answer questions.
• Open and close cash registers following accurate procedures.
• Process cash, credit card, and sales transactions in line with company policies.
• Maintain appropriate levels of petty cash and handle returns or exchanges with manager approval.
• Resolve customer complaints professionally and efficiently.
• Stay informed about pricing policies, promotions, and new book releases.
• Support online, warehouse, and department return requests and price changes.
• Collaborate with fellow booksellers to achieve team goals and participate in visual merchandising.
• Perform other duties as assigned, including managing press reception and in‑store displays.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Humanities, Literature, Documentation or a related field.
• 0–5 years of relevant experience in retail or customer service.
• Fluency in English; French is a plus.
• Ability to stand for long periods and work weekends or holidays when needed.
