Steel Design Engineer

About the role

We are looking for a hands‑on Steel Design Engineer to join a remote team of 5‑7 structural engineers. You will be responsible for the design, analysis, and documentation of steel structures, ensuring compliance with industry codes and project requirements.

Key responsibilities

• Design steel structures such as equipment platforms, pipe rafts, tensile‑membrane frames, mezzanines and canopies.
• Prepare and review structural calculations, reports and technical documentation.
• Develop Excel spreadsheets or Mathcad worksheets for component analysis and design.
• Perform hand calculations for seismic, wind and other load cases in accordance with IBC, ASCE 7, AISC 360, ACI 318.
• Create and review engineering drawings and specifications in AutoCAD.
• Collaborate with CAD drafters to align drawings with calculations and specifications.
• Stay current with structural engineering trends and software tools.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Civil Engineering.
• 1‑2 years of hands‑on steel design experience.
• Strong understanding of structural analysis methods, load paths and material behavior.
• Familiarity with national codes (IBC, ASCE 7, AISC 360, ACI 318).
• Ability to produce detailed calculations and engineering reports.
• Excellent problem‑solving, communication and teamwork skills.
