Senior Legal Expert – Justice Reform (Lebanon)

About the role

The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) in Lebanon is seeking a Senior Legal Expert to provide technical support for the Justice Forum, a multi‑stakeholder initiative aimed at reforming the country’s justice sector. The role is home‑based with occasional meetings at hotel conference venues in Beirut.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare core meeting documents, agendas, and structural frameworks for the Juvenile Justice and Child Protection thematic group.
• Conduct specialised legal and institutional research, drafting background papers, briefing notes and supporting documents.
• Facilitate working group meetings, capture technical discussions and draft official minutes.
• Prepare post‑meeting action documents and coordinate follow‑up consultations with national stakeholders.
• Collaborate with the Rule of Law and Governance Chief Technical Advisor and align activities with ongoing UNDP efforts.

Required profile

• Advanced degree in law or a related field.
• Extensive experience in justice sector reform, preferably with a focus on juvenile justice and child protection.
• Proven ability to conduct legal research, draft policy documents and facilitate multi‑stakeholder meetings.
• Strong understanding of Lebanon’s legal and institutional framework.
