Senior Legal Expert

About the role

The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) in Lebanon seeks a Senior Legal Expert to provide technical support for the Justice Forum, a multi‑stakeholder initiative aimed at reforming the country’s justice sector. The role is primarily home‑based with occasional on‑site activities in Beirut.

Key responsibilities

• Provide technical support on draft laws governing the independence of the judiciary (both judicial and administrative).
• Offer expert assistance to review and update the draft law on judicial independence.
• Support the multi‑stakeholder Justice Forum process, contributing to the assessment of challenges and the development of a national reform roadmap.
• Assist in establishing a monitoring and follow‑up mechanism for the reform roadmap.

Required profile

• Senior‑level legal professional with extensive experience in justice sector reform.
• Demonstrated knowledge of Lebanese judicial structures and legislation.
• Ability to work under the guidance of the Rule of Law and Governance Chief Technical Advisor.
