Scientific Editor – Geology

About the role

Cactus Communications is seeking a Scientific Editor specialized in Geology to join its Earth and Environmental Science team on a work‑from‑home basis. This is a contractual position with the possibility of renewal based on mutual agreement, offering a predictable schedule of regular work.

Key responsibilities

• Review and edit manuscripts to improve clarity, coherence, and readability while preserving authors’ intended meaning.
• Ensure subject‑specific terminology, conventions, and scientific arguments are accurate and appropriate for the target audience.
• Enhance presentation of complex research findings to meet publication standards.
• Format manuscripts according to journal guidelines and eliminate unclear or unidiomatic sentences.

Required profile

• Master’s or PhD degree in Geology or a related Earth‑science discipline.
• Demonstrated ability to critically evaluate scientific content for discipline‑specific accuracy.
• Excellent written English with strong attention to detail.
• Prior experience in scientific editing, peer review, or academic publishing is advantageous.
