Reinsurance Area Manager – Marine (Africa)

About the role

Chedid Re, a subsidiary of Chedid Capital, is seeking an experienced Reinsurance Area Manager for its Marine Department covering the African territory. You will lead brokerage services, drive business development, and support the department’s growth across multiple lines of business.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and execute a business plan aligned with departmental and corporate objectives.
• Manage facultative business development, including new business and renewals for Marine, Transit, and Cargo lines.
• Oversee renewals, binder audits, and placement file production to ensure compliance and timely delivery.
• Negotiate and close deals with insurers and reinsurers, approving commissions and brokerage fees.
• Identify and pursue cross‑selling opportunities and coordinate with Quality Assurance for audits.
• Provide technical advice, support business modeling exercises, and maintain strong relationships with key market participants.
• Lead, coach, and evaluate a team, setting individual objectives and delivering performance feedback.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in business administration, insurance, or a related field.
• At least 8 years of relevant experience, with a minimum of 4 years in a comparable managerial role.
• Fluency in English and French.
• Chartered Insurance Institute (CII) certification is preferred.
