R&D Formulation Chemist – Cosmetics & Personal Care

About the role

The company, a leader in cosmetics and personal care, is looking for an experienced R&D Formulation Chemist to join its Research & Development team. You will transform product concepts into market‑ready formulations, ensuring performance, safety, and regulatory compliance.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and optimise cosmetic and personal‑care formulations with a focus on stability, efficacy and cost‑efficiency.
• Translate product briefs into laboratory prototypes and final commercial formulations.
• Research, evaluate and select raw materials, staying current with industry trends and sustainability considerations.
• Conduct stability, compatibility and performance testing; analyse results and adjust formulations to meet specifications.
• Support scale‑up trials, collaborate with manufacturing to resolve formulation or process issues, and ensure reproducibility in production.
• Work closely with Marketing, Procurement and Regulatory teams to align formulations with market needs and compliance requirements.
• Maintain detailed documentation of experiments, technical reports and regulatory filings.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Biochemistry, Chemical Engineering, Pharmacy or a related scientific field.
• 3–5 years of hands‑on experience in formulation development or R&D within cosmetics, personal care or FMCG.
• Strong understanding of cosmetic chemistry principles, raw‑material functionality and regulatory standards.
• Excellent attention to detail, documentation skills and the ability to work cross‑functionally.
