Programme Associate SSA6 - Livelihoods and Recovery

About the role

The Programme Associate SSA6 provides specialized support and technical analysis to policy and programme activities that meet food assistance needs, and supports the planning, implementation, monitoring and coordination of livelihoods and recovery activities in affected areas. The role contributes to designing, expanding and optimizing livelihoods and recovery interventions, generating evidence through assessments and analysis, and strengthening coordination with government counterparts, partners and communities. It works under the direct supervision of the Head of Field Office.

Key responsibilities

• Provide technical support and help develop and implement activities aligned with programme policies and guidelines.
• Support project management so activities stay within targets and follow WFP policies and procedures.
• Prepare reports and data analysis on food assistance needs, resource use, programme status and performance, highlighting trends and issues.
• Record data accurately and on time, and ensure information presented to stakeholders is consistent.
• Liaise with internal counterparts and coordinate with local partners, agencies, NGOs and government institutions on food security analyses and food assistance delivery.
• Support capacity building of WFP staff, partners and national government, and act as a point of contact for operational queries.
• Review the work of other support staff and follow emergency preparedness practices.

Required profile

• Secondary school completion; a university degree in International Affairs, Agriculture, Social Sciences, Engineering or a related field is a plus.
• At least six years of progressively responsible experience, including at least two years on livelihoods and recovery programmes, emergency relief assistance and project management.
• Fluency in spoken and written English and Arabic; knowledge of French is an added advantage.
