Lawyer, Office of the General Counsel (Senior Associate)

About the role

PwC Middle East's Office of the General Counsel (OGC) team provides day-to-day legal advice and support to client-facing teams across the region, helping the business grow while taking appropriate risk decisions. This Senior Associate position is a litigation lawyer role based in Beirut (Saba House); the lawyer must be pragmatic, solution-oriented and able to balance identified risks with a commercial outlook, working closely with partners and senior engagement team members.

Key responsibilities

• Support Senior OGC members, the ME Chief Risk Officer and the ME General Counsel on legal matters arising from internal and external activities, including commercial and transactional matters, corporate, litigation, employment and regulatory issues.
• Advise engagement teams and LoS R&Q teams on legal risk throughout an engagement lifecycle, and liaise with R&Q functions such as Independence, Compliance and AML.
• Keep Global firm R&Q, Global OGC and PwC UK OGC informed about significant adverse matters.
• Build relationships with LoS R&Q Leaders, LoS and IFS Partners and engagement teams, and meet with the allocated LoS R&Q / IFS Leader to discuss findings and concerns.
• Assist with guidance and templates, update policies and procedures, review and redesign processes, and support OGC projects.
• Ensure compliance with PwC Network standards, policies and procedures, and contribute to the continuing professional development of self and team members.
