Finance Compliance Specialist

About the role

The Finance Compliance Specialist supports the university’s accounting operations by overseeing U.S. tax compliance and the administration of the 403(b) Retirement Plan. Reporting to the Comptroller, the role is based primarily on the Beirut campus with occasional travel to the Byblos campus.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare and review tax‑related reconciliations, schedules and supporting documentation to ensure accuracy and integrity.
• Maintain tax compliance records, monitor regulatory developments and assess their impact on university operations.
• Coordinate U.S. tax compliance activities with internal departments, external advisors and regulatory authorities.
• Assist in resolving tax‑related issues and contribute to process‑improvement projects.
• Administer the university’s 403(b) Retirement Plan, including transaction review, reconciliations and plan documentation.
• Monitor plan compliance, work with HR, payroll, third‑party administrators and auditors.
• Support the annual audit of the 403(b) plan by preparing schedules and responding to audit inquiries.
• Identify opportunities to enhance controls, governance and efficiency of the retirement‑plan administration.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or a related field.
• CPA or equivalent professional certification.
• Minimum five years of progressive experience in accounting, financial reporting, tax compliance or related financial operations.
• Strong knowledge of U.S. tax compliance processes and regulatory reporting.
