Safeguarding Coordinator

About the role

The Safeguarding Coordinator will lead ABAAD’s safeguarding system across all programmes and operations, ensuring prevention and response to sexual exploitation and abuse (SEA) and other misconduct. The role supports a culture of safety, ethics, and accountability while working closely with staff, volunteers, partners and affected communities.

Key responsibilities

• Develop, strengthen and monitor safeguarding policies, procedures, reporting mechanisms and risk mitigation measures.
• Align safeguarding policies with international best practices, donor requirements and inter‑agency standards.
• Provide technical guidance and coaching to management, staff, volunteers, consultants and partners.
• Design and deliver context‑specific safeguarding, PSEA and accountability trainings.
• Conduct regular field visits for monitoring, technical support and follow‑up.
• Coordinate implementation of the safeguarding workplan across all field locations.
• Oversee the Complaints, Feedback and Response Mechanism (CFRM) to ensure it is survivor‑centred and confidential.
• Produce analytical reports with recommendations for management.
• Lead safeguarding investigations, maintain case documentation and ensure impartial processes.
• Facilitate safe referrals to internal and external support services.
• Represent ABAAD in PSEA networks, AAP working groups and CHS self‑assessment activities.
• Supervise and mentor the Safeguarding Officer.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in social sciences, law, psychology or a related field.
• Experience in safeguarding, protection or related humanitarian contexts.
• Demonstrated ability to design and deliver trainings and to manage investigations.
• Strong understanding of international safeguarding standards and donor requirements.
