Postdoctoral Position in Materials Science

About the role

The Department of Industrial and Mechanical Engineering at the Lebanese American University seeks a full‑time postdoctoral researcher to lead theoretical and computational studies of electromechanical couplings in two‑dimensional materials. The appointment is for two years, with renewal contingent on performance.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct theoretical and computational research on electromechanical properties of 2D materials.
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary research teams across physics, chemistry, and engineering.
• Prepare and submit high‑impact journal and conference papers.
• Supervise graduate and undergraduate students in related projects.
• Contribute to the development of research proposals and grant applications.

Required profile

• PhD in Physics, Chemistry, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a closely related discipline.
• Strong background in condensed matter and materials physics, quantum mechanics foundations, and advanced computational methods.
• Demonstrated record of peer‑reviewed publications is preferred.

Required skills

• In‑plane‑wave density functional theory (DFT) and density functional perturbation theory (DFPT).
• Advanced computational and numerical methods.
• Cluster computing experience.
• Continuum mechanics knowledge.
