Political Affairs Internship

About the role

The Political Affairs Internship supports the Political Unit of the UN Special Coordinator for Lebanon in Beirut. Working on‑site, the intern will assist with research, reporting, and event coordination related to Lebanon and the broader Middle East region.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct research and compile information on selected political and security issues.
• Draft geographical and thematic fact sheets and daily incident reports.
• Maintain data collections on security trends and assist in preparing presentations and papers.
• Monitor local, regional, and international media, including social media platforms.
• Support the organization of events, outreach activities, and attend conferences as an observer.
• Translate media items and documents between Arabic and English.
• Provide administrative support, including archiving and other unit functions.

Required profile

• Enrolled in or completed a graduate programme, or in the final year of a bachelor’s degree, in a field relevant to political affairs.
• Demonstrated interest in the United Nations and commitment to its Charter.
• Ability to work with individuals from diverse cultural backgrounds.
• No prior work experience required.

Required skills

• Proficiency with standard office software applications.
• Basic database management skills.
• Internet research and social‑media monitoring capabilities.
• Arabic‑English translation ability.
