Hardware Engineer – Optical/Photonics (PCB Layout & Design)

About the role

We are looking for a PCB Layout and Hardware Design Engineer with a strong background in optics and photonics. The successful candidate will contribute to the design, development, and optimisation of printed circuit boards that support fiber‑optic, laser, and photonic IC applications.

Key responsibilities

• Develop schematic capture and PCB layout using Orcad or similar tools.
• Ensure designs meet signal integrity, power integrity, and EMI/EMC compliance standards.
• Optimise board layouts for performance, manufacturability, and cost efficiency.
• Generate and maintain comprehensive design documentation, including schematics, layout files, and design rules.
• Support testing, debugging, and troubleshooting of prototypes and production boards.
• Collaborate with electrical, mechanical, and manufacturing teams to achieve project goals.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics, or a related discipline.
• Practical knowledge of optical and photonic technologies such as fiber optics, lasers, and photonic integrated circuits.
• Strong problem‑solving abilities and attention to detail.
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
