Accounting & Auditing Consultant – Abidjan

About the role

The Chief Accountant / Auditor will lead all accounting and financial reporting activities for our clients, based in Abidjan with travel across Lebanon and other African countries. The role combines hands‑on accounting, internal audit, and strategic financial advisory to ensure compliance with best practices and SD Group policies.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and supervise accounting and financial reporting for client entities and internal operations.
• Develop, implement and continuously improve accounting policies, procedures and internal control frameworks.
• Plan, execute and oversee internal audit and financial review engagements across multiple projects and locations.
• Ensure compliance with applicable accounting standards, statutory regulations, tax requirements and organisational policies.
• Evaluate financial processes and control environments, recommending practical improvements.
• Provide financial, accounting and audit advisory services, supporting setup and optimisation of client finance functions.
• Deliver financial insights, performance analysis and executive summaries to support decision‑making.
• Support budgeting, forecasting, cash‑flow monitoring and financial planning activities.
• Mentor and develop accounting and audit team members and provide training to client finance teams.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or related field; CPA, ACCA or equivalent preferred.
• 7–10 years of progressive experience in accounting and auditing, with proven leadership responsibilities.
• Strong knowledge of accounting principles, auditing standards, financial regulations and compliance requirements.
• Demonstrated experience managing audit engagements and delivering financial advisory or consulting services.
• Excellent analytical, problem‑solving and decision‑making abilities.
• Strong communication, presentation and client relationship management skills.

Required skills

• Proficiency in applying accounting standards (e.g., IFRS, local GAAP).
• Knowledge of auditing standards (e.g., ISA).
• Experience with financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting and cash‑flow management.
• Ability to design and assess internal control frameworks.
