Technical Adviser – Climate, WASH & Shelter

About the role

The Climate, Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH) and Shelter Technical Adviser is a senior member of Save the Children Lebanon’s Programme Development and Quality team. The role provides strategic and technical leadership to ensure climate‑resilient, environmentally sustainable programming across WASH, shelter, disaster risk reduction and anticipatory action.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and implement a climate change and environmental sustainability strategy that is integrated across all programme sectors.
• Provide technical leadership on WASH, shelter, climate adaptation, DRR and green construction, ensuring climate risk assessments and resilience approaches are embedded in design and implementation.
• Lead the preparation of climate finance proposals, including Green Climate Fund submissions and other funding opportunities.
• Design and institutionalise anticipatory action systems, aligning early‑warning mechanisms with preparedness and rapid response plans.
• Develop high‑quality WASH and shelter proposals and ensure quality assurance across related programmes.
• Represent Save the Children in coordination forums on climate, WASH, shelter and resilience.
• Support the localisation agenda and uphold child safeguarding standards (Level 3).

Required profile

• Senior professional with extensive experience in climate change, environmental sustainability, WASH, shelter and disaster risk reduction.
• Proven track record in developing climate finance proposals and managing anticipatory action initiatives.
• Strong understanding of humanitarian and development programming and ability to work with multiple stakeholders.
• Commitment to child safeguarding and localisation principles.
