Summer Research Intern (AI & Deep Learning)

About the role

The Chehab Lab at the American University of Beirut is offering a three‑month Summer Research Internship focused on AI and deep learning. Selected undergraduate engineering students will work on real research problems in areas such as medical AI, computer vision, and intelligent systems.

Key responsibilities

• Assist in developing and evaluating deep learning models.
• Read, analyze, and summarize recent AI research papers.
• Implement experiments using Python and modern machine‑learning frameworks.
• Support ongoing AI and applied‑machine‑learning research projects.
• Participate in technical meetings, brainstorming sessions, and documentation of experiments.

Required profile

• Undergraduate engineering student, preferably in the 4th year.
• Completed at least one Machine Learning course.
• Strong interest in deep learning and AI research.
• Previous research experience is a plus.

Required skills

• Python programming.
• Experience with modern ML libraries/frameworks (e.g., TensorFlow, PyTorch).
• Understanding of deep‑learning concepts.
