Senior Planning Engineer

About the role

This Senior Planning Engineer position covers the planning and cost control of large EPC projects (power, substations, waste-to-energy, oil & gas and building) and MENA projects managed from Head Office. The role prepares and monitors the baseline schedule and budget, controls costs, manages contractual claims and leads junior planning staff.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare the project's baseline schedule and three-week look-ahead schedule, including human and equipment resources, and review it with the Project Manager for approval
• Prepare and update the baseline budget and monitor its implementation, analysing delays and proposing solutions
• Perform cost control: quantities, past and future commitments, variation orders, cost breakdown and cash flow, and report budget deviations
• Follow up contractual events such as disruptions, variations and extensions of time, and prepare the extension of time schedule
• Liaise with the client on extension of time claims and other planning matters
• Monitor labour and equipment productivity and coach junior planning and cost control engineers
• Build and maintain CPM schedules in Primavera P6 (Levels 1-4) and produce weekly/monthly schedule updates, S-curves, SPI/CPI, critical path analysis and monthly progress narratives
• Write concise reports and present to the PM, senior management and client planners

Required profile

• Engineering degree
• Minimum of 8 years of relevant experience
• Good written and spoken English, Arabic and French

Required skills

• Primavera P6 scheduling (WBS, activity codes, logic, calendars, resource and cost loading)
• CPM scheduling and Earned Value Management (SPI, CPI)
