Senior Finance Officer – Budgeting & Reporting

About the role

The International Rescue Committee is seeking a solutions‑driven Senior Finance Officer to lead day‑to‑day financial processing, month‑end close, budgeting and reporting across its programs. Reporting to the Finance Manager (Budgeting & Reporting), you will ensure compliance with IRC policies, donor requirements and internal controls while supporting program teams.

Key responsibilities

• Verify payments, maintain accounts payable/receivable, and ensure all transactions are reasonable and documented.
• Prepare and analyse financial data from the Integra system for internal and external reporting.
• Assist with donor verification visits and audit processes.
• Develop new budgets and revise existing grant budgets, ensuring accurate cost coverage.
• Allocate shared program costs, support month‑end closure, and produce monthly versus actual (BVA) reports.
• Monitor budget spending, advise staff on variances, and update spending plans with budget holders.
• Prepare donor financial reports and provide analysis of grant spending versus actuals.

Required profile

• Minimum 3 years of experience in accounting or finance, preferably within an NGO.
• Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance or a related field.
• Strong knowledge of Excel and experience with budget preparation and financial reporting.
