Senior Electrical Engineer Designer – Transmission Lines or Hydropower

About the role

We are looking for two senior, hands‑on Electrical Engineer Designers to join our Africa‑based projects. One will focus on high‑voltage transmission and distribution lines, the other on electrical systems for hydropower plants. Both positions require immediate availability and the ability to deliver construction‑ready packages from concept through detailed design.

Key responsibilities

• Lead design of HV/EHV overhead transmission and distribution lines, including line routing, tower spotting, sag‑tension calculations and structure‑loading analysis.
• Produce design calculations, technical specifications, layouts and construction‑ready drawings using PLS‑CADD/PLS‑POLE and AutoCAD.
• Design electrical systems for hydropower plants: generators, switchgear, protection, grid connection, one‑line diagrams, equipment specifications and cable sizing.
• Perform load‑flow, short‑circuit and protection‑coordination studies with ETAP and related tools.
• Coordinate with civil, structural, mechanical and substation teams to ensure compliance with IEC and IEEE standards.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering (or higher).
• Minimum 10 years of relevant design experience in transmission lines or hydropower.
• Proven ability to work independently and deliver on schedule.
• Strong analytical, documentation and cross‑discipline coordination skills.
