Project Technical Officer

About the role

The Project Technical Officer will coordinate and oversee the implementation of the Global Environment Facility Small Grants Programme (SGP) activities in Lebanon, as well as other environment‑related initiatives managed by the Green and Inclusive Development programme.

Key responsibilities

• Supervise the SGP Country Programme Associate/Assistant, set performance targets and manage the team.
• Develop and implement the Country Programme Strategy, manage grant allocations and the operating budget, and ensure compliance with SGP SOPs and UNDP regulations.
• Organise stakeholder workshops, support CSOs/CBOs in project concept development, and oversee grant monitoring and field visits.
• Plan and act as secretary for National Steering Committee meetings and coordinate with the Technical Advisory Group.
• Mobilise resources and develop partnerships with donors, government and development partners to leverage SGP resources.
• Document lessons learned, disseminate best practices and support capacity‑building for grantees.

Required profile

• Experience in managing environmental or development programmes, preferably within UN or donor‑funded projects.
• Strong knowledge of national environmental priorities, climate change, biodiversity and sustainable livelihoods.
• Proven ability to supervise staff, coordinate multi‑stakeholder groups and manage budgets.
