Mechanical Engineer - Campus Facilities

About the role

Beirut Arab University is looking for a Mechanical Engineer to plan, supervise and manage mechanical engineering activities across its campuses. The role covers maintenance operations, renovation projects, infrastructure improvements and facility development, while keeping engineering records, technical documentation and digital facility databases up to date.

Key responsibilities

• Supervise the operation, maintenance, testing and commissioning of HVAC systems, chilled water networks, chillers, cooling towers, pumps, AHUs, FCUs, ventilation and exhaust systems.
• Manage water supply, plumbing, drainage, sewage, stormwater, irrigation, water storage, pumping stations, deep water wells, desalination, water treatment and wastewater treatment systems.
• Monitor mechanical assets, investigate failures, find root causes and implement corrective actions.
• Follow up with maintenance contractors and service providers.
• Review shop drawings, submittals, test reports and contractor documentation; prepare technical specifications, scopes of work, BOQs and tender documents.
• Prepare and update mechanical as-built drawings and BIM/Revit models, and maintain facility records.
• Carry out site inspections, asset condition surveys and engineering evaluations, and prepare technical, maintenance and performance reports.
• Coordinate with consultants, contractors, suppliers, utilities and university departments, and provide emergency technical support.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering from an accredited university.
• At least five years of professional experience in mechanical engineering, building services, facilities maintenance, mechanical infrastructure, water treatment, desalination, wastewater treatment or construction projects.
• Experience in institutional, educational, healthcare, commercial, industrial or multi-building environments.
• Project supervision, contract management, engineering documentation and technical coordination experience is highly desirable.

Required skills

• AutoCAD, Revit MEP, BIM platforms and Microsoft Office.
• Knowledge of HVAC, chilled water, pumps, plumbing, drainage, sewage, stormwater, irrigation and water/wastewater treatment systems.
• Ability to read engineering standards, codes, technical specifications and manufacturer recommendations.
• Equipment lifecycle management, maintenance planning and reliability improvement.
