Library Assistant

About the role

SGUB is seeking a Library Assistant to support daily library operations, help students, faculty and staff access resources, and contribute to an organized and welcoming learning environment. The position reports to the library manager.

Key responsibilities

• Assist users with the library portal, electronic databases and basic information searches.
• Support cataloguing records, shelving, circulation and inventory of library materials.
• Maintain service records and compile basic library usage statistics.
• Assist with library orientations and information literacy sessions.
• Provide service desk support and coordinate follow-up on routine access and technical issues.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in library and information science is mandatory.
• Preferably one year of relevant experience; fresh graduates with relevant internships or practical training may be considered.
• Experience in an academic or medical library is an advantage.
• Good written and verbal communication in English and Arabic; French is an advantage.
• Strong service orientation, organization, attention to detail and teamwork, with respect for confidentiality.

Required skills

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office, online databases and digital platforms.
