Humanitarian Affairs Assistant – Access

About the role

The Humanitarian Affairs Assistant – Access will support the Resident/Humanitarian Coordinator in delivering a coherent and effective humanitarian response across Lebanon. Working from UN premises in Beirut, the assistant will contribute to coordination, analysis, funding mobilisation and advocacy activities in a highly volatile environment.

Key responsibilities

• Assist in strengthening strategic coordination mechanisms and support the Humanitarian Country Team (HCT) in planning and monitoring joint responses.
• Support the emergency response to the economic crisis, COVID‑19, and cholera as outlined in the Emergency Response Plan.
• Collect, analyse and synthesize humanitarian needs, gaps and response data to produce situation reports.
• Help mobilise flexible and predictable humanitarian funding and prepare related documentation.
• Monitor protection and humanitarian access issues and contribute to advocacy efforts.
• Liaise with UN agencies, NGOs, government bodies and other partners to ensure timely delivery of assistance.

Required profile

• University degree in humanitarian affairs, international relations, social sciences or a related field.
• At least two years of professional experience in humanitarian coordination or assistance.
• Good knowledge of the humanitarian context in Lebanon and ability to work under pressure.
• Fluency in English; Arabic is an asset.
