Head Health Centre A - NLA (Internal UNRWA Staff Only)

About the role

UNRWA is recruiting a Head of Health Centre A in Tripoli, Lebanon, for internal UNRWA staff only. The incumbent reports to the Area Health Officer and directly supervises professional and general services staff in the assigned health centre. The position is fixed term for 1 year, including a 1-year probation period, with possible extension depending on funds, performance and need.

Key responsibilities

• Provide general outpatient services and special services, including maternal and child health, control of non-communicable diseases and hospital referrals.
• Perform medical examinations for applicants for hardship assistance, newly recruited staff and periodic checks of existing staff, and take part in medical boards and ratify sick leaves.
• Manage the health centre, including organisation of services, personnel supervision, supply management and reporting.
• Directly supervise medical staff and guide nursing and para-medical staff, evaluating their performance.
• Maintain relationships with the local community and authorities, and ensure medicines and supplies are available in quantity, quality and validity, overseeing ordering, receipt and disposal of expired items.
• Take part in on-the-job and in-service training of other staff and perform other duties assigned by the supervisor.

Required profile

• A medical degree from an accredited institution, including a 12-month internship, and a valid medical licence in the country of duty station where applicable.
• At least six years of progressively responsible and relevant professional experience.
• English and Arabic at UN Level I or II (reading, writing, listening and speaking).
• Only candidates residing in Lebanon, within commuting distance of the duty station and holding a valid work permit, may apply; the agency does not support work permits.

What we offer

• Grade HL08, starting monthly salary of USD 2,304.40 (basic salary plus supplementary allowance).
• Monthly provident fund contribution of 15.4%, compulsory medical insurance, 30 days annual leave and dependency allowance if applicable.
• Additional leave: 2 days sick leave per month of service, 14 weeks maternity leave and 2 weeks paternity leave.
• Travel in the Agency's area of operations may be required.
