Education Specialist Arabic (NLA) - Internal UNRWA Post

About the role

UNRWA is recruiting an Education Specialist Arabic (NLA) for its Education Development Centre in Tripoli, Lebanon. The post provides technical support to teachers and schools to promote equitable, inclusive, quality education and supports the professional development of teachers and principals. It is open only to UNRWA internal staff, and only candidates residing in Lebanon and within commuting distance of the duty station are eligible.

Key responsibilities

• Support schools and assist teachers directly through team and model teaching, co-teaching and classroom observation.
• Provide, explain and demonstrate instructional resources and monitor the use of up-to-date inclusive teaching methods.
• Support teachers and schools in professional development and advise on development plans aligned with teachers' competencies.
• Advise School Principals on their School Development Plan and coordinate continuing professional development for supported schools.
• Support curriculum analysis and enrichment, and advise on teaching and learning tools and resources for inclusive education.
• Contribute to quality assurance and to assessing student achievement, and help prepare interviews for teaching posts and support performance management of teachers.

Required profile

• University degree in the subject to be supported, plus at least one year of professional teacher training, or a university degree plus an advanced degree in education.
• At least eight years of satisfactory teaching experience in the subject to be supported.
• English and Arabic at UN Level I or II (reading, writing, listening and speaking).

What we offer

• Fixed-term appointment of 1 year with a 1-year probation period, with possible extension depending on funds, performance and need.
• Grade 13, starting monthly salary of USD 1,610.02 (basic salary plus allowances).
